Totally. Not. Joking.

I'm so over the spinning instructors at the suburban location of my gym I could cut someone. Preferably, one of them.

It's as though this particular location just has something against instructors who choose decent music, go through appropriate circuits, give water breaks,
don't make obnoxious whooping noises - Seriously! It's such a spinning instructor cliche! - and show up on time. I was so irritated tonight. I wish the spinning classes back in the city weren't so crowded. Ugh.

Anyway ...

It's just gorgeous here in Chicago so I've kept my training this week outside with the dog. I gave her today off as she's just getting back into the swing of running and she can only do so much. Tomorrow we tackle another two miles in the morning and then I'm taking a strength training class after work.

I've been pulling out my old WW cookbooks for cooking ideas. I'm forcing myself to use up what I have in my freezer and pantry before I go shopping again - aside from, say, buying some eggs - and they've given me some great ideas. I made a nice brown sugar, Dijon mustard and dill glaze for my lunch salmon this week. It's also making me want to break my pledge at least once this weekend - and make something from the book. I may not follow POINTS anymore, but they have some damn fine recipes. So far, it's between these dishes:

*Minestre Fagioli - Minestrone soup, basically
*Cornmeal Pancakes with Smoked Salmon and Caper Spread
*Maple-Berry Pancakes
*Pepper-Crusted Flank Steak with Cucumber Relish

I'm leaning towards the cornmeal pancakes or the flank steak. We'll see what happens come Friday when I go to the grocery store.

For now I'm off to soak in the tub and get some sleep.

I'm trying to regulate both my eating AND my spending this year, and I find this mentality (use what you have before buying more) is so key. It's also so hard! I'm jealous that you can go running with the dog. (Are there pictures of her somewhere that I'm missing?) I adore my dog more than life itself, but he's a fluffy, ridiculous, puff of a thing and couldn't run a block to save his life.

Glinny is a golden retriever so running isn't too hard for her. I've read, though, that you have to be careful since they're like any of us and have to work up to certain distances and speeds. You just need to read your dog. I know when Glinny is getting tired as she speeds up or, and this is always hysterical, will turn down our street when we pass it on the final lap!

Here are some Glinny pictures. They haven't been updated in a while since I forgot my camera back at my Gram's in January.
