The Week In Review

Being sick is a bitch. Throws everything off.

Here is this week's updated training/eating/listening

I finally got back on track when I finally met up with my trainer and had our first session together. He is, most certainly, worth every penny I spent on him. Not only did he kick my ass, but he is incredibly passionate about what he does. He has philosophies and plans and I bet if you asked him to sing that "Hip Bone's Connected To The ..." song he totally could.

Also? HE stretches me out on a massage table at the end. Amazing.

Not only are we working on my diet and getting me to lose 20 pounds and build muscle, but he's got me doing things to correct my posture and pronation problems. Insane. Love it. Love him. I'll see him twice a week -- once for the training session and the other for kickboxing. It means going to the branch of my gym that is in the River North area, and not close to my house, but the inconvenience is a small price to pay.

Of course, all of this means I have to stick with it. When I say I spent a lot of money on this, I am not exaggerating. I bought 15 weeks worth of training. I got a deal but still: expensive. So I need to keep that in mind the next time I go for that third beer or hunk of cheese. The most I will ask of myself is six days of total clean eating and a day where I splurge on something if the mood strikes me.

When I last spent the money on a trainer -- and never this much, mind you -- I stayed in the groove. Nothing motivates better than money for me. Screw fitting back into my clothes well; it's all about the dolla', baby. Whatever works, I suppose. The important thing is that I've caught my stride again, after so many stops and starts. And while I'm firmly resting at 150 pounds right now, I'm happy that I managed to kick those seven extra pounds I gained over the summer and that I'm back to business.

More later. The White Sox just took a HUGE lead with a Paul Konerko grand slam. I must go finish watching. I was in Bridgeport last night, just steps away from Comiskey, and while I'm no huge baseball fan, it was super-sweet to be in that hood during this time.

Glad you a feeling better. Your trainer sounds awesome.

Reading your site motivated me last week. I stayed within WW points and lost 2 pounds. Very happy with that.

Your puppy is adorable.

Yup, money is the big motivator. I'm sure if the gym was free, I wouldn't go nearly so much. It is only £100 a year (which is cheap), but then again, £100 a year is still a big deal for me.

Your trainer sounds great, though. I am a little jealous. But I don't think I want to know how much he costs.
