Run Hit Wonder
So a couple of weeks ago, as we learned I was physically healthy but right before I lost Internet access at home and we moved, I learned about a blogging opportunity here in Chicago through the fabulous and saucy Miata. Fast forward a week or two, and I learn that I've gotten the gig. Nike hosts something called the Run Hit Wonder in cities across the country. Chicago is one of them. The race here in the Windy City is September 13. Now, you'll remember what a disaster the Chinatown 5K was for me and how I was/am determined to train harder and better, etc., etc. and so on. So when I learned that the blogging gig consisted of me training with the Nike training groups and subsequently blogging about the experience up until and including the race? Well, I was all for it. So I've officially begun training for this 5K and will begin writing about it for Centerstage Chicago. When I had an address to give to you, I will. I'm excited about this -- I'll be running with a group and doing triathlon training-type classes at Crunch gym, in addition to my regular workouts. The last few weeks have been busy but are winding down. My Saturdays have been packed and luckily for me, I'm free this Saturday which means I can officially get my ever-expanding ass back to Weight Watchers. I don't exactly look forward to returning to the land of POINTS counting but I plan to embrace them in favor of my Seven jeans fitting better. In other news, a big shout out to Jenny [or is it Jenni?] whom I met in front of my new apartment building on Friday evening and, as luck would have it, is a Lose The Buddha reader. Jenny came up to me as Erik and I were coming home and was sweet enough to introduce herself to me as soon as she recognized me from this blog. J -- come on over and ring our bell whenever you get the chance! Posted by Erin at 08:05 AM | filed under: Random commentsI will see you there, Casey! Sorry it's been so crazy for me lately! posted by: Erin at August 9, 2005 11:32 AM No worries. I'm currently holed up in a rural subsubsuburb in Connecticut and missed this past week's meeting. I can't wait to get back on track and into the swing of things! posted by: casey at August 9, 2005 12:01 PM Yay! Girl, I saw "Buddha" all over that Run Hit Wonder gig when I came across it! I'm so very psyched to hear that the powers-that-be did too. Rockin'! (And Rollin'!) posted by: Miata at August 9, 2005 09:53 PM Good job on the writing assignment--how wonderful for you! That's so cool that you randomly met an LTB reader. You're on your way to bona-fide fame, girl! It is one of my dreams to run into in this large metropolis of Chicago, and hug you and blab on and on (as I am wont to do--but not in a psycho way, I promise) about how much your site has meant to me, what a strong and stellar person I think you are. I am moving back to Colorado in 6 weeks, so I'll keep my eyes open, posted by: Heidi at August 14, 2005 11:22 AM |
