It's The Shoes, Baby
I can't believe I mention shoes without mentioning the kind of shoes they are. Sorry about that. New Balance 856. They are the best ever. I guess I am more of an overpronator than I realized because I'm not kidding, these shoes have made all the difference. I don't have to change shoes to lift, either. I did a half-hour worth of leg work yesterday morning, tons of lunges and squats, and while my ass hurts, my arches did not. I still haven't purchased a bike, but that's simply because I haven't resumed looking. I've come to the conclusion that I just don't want to spend tons and tons of money so I'm narrowing my search a tad. I'll keep you posted. And, lastly, I've hired a coach for the triathlon. Well, sort of. It's one of those "Crunch Time" coach things that work with via the phone. We're going to talk next week, and I have forms to fax back to her, but I thought I would give it a shot. I only have a month to the triathlon and I'm always up for a new experience. It's better I work under the guidance of someone else, an expert, in such a time crunch. Hence, um, the crunch thing. I feel fairly confident in my ability to hack it. I was a slacker this past month or so, but I'm still in great shape. This will just be another challenge. Look for daily updates here on the training once it starts. I loved hearing from so many of you on the "Thin/Fat" thing. So many really cool points. One of you [JB] mentioned how important it is to voice loud and clear a message of health, which resounded with me. Here is what JB shared in case you missed it: What we can do, as educated consumers, is add our voices. Nutrient-dense whole foods, enough of them to nourish your body, are good for you. Working your body is good for you. Avoid disease. Take care of the body you have; it's the only one you will be given. Don't try to see your bones or bury them in fat; feed them milk and yogurt instead. If Lindsey Lohan isn't doing those things, she's not healthy, and if I'm not doing them, I'm not healthy either.
