Doing my part for the war effort
Happy Halloween! Halloween is a HUGE deal at my new job. Lots of fun stuff going on today. While candy and costumes and rum are certainly wonderful perks, the new job is turning out to be a fantastic move for a million reasons. It's a great place to be. And I'm not just saying that, Rene. :) Tonight I'm playing it low-key. On Saturday, we went to the lovely home of the Huffencoopers - Andrew and Cinnamon - for their annual Halloween party. We had a fantastic time (I probably had waaay too good of a time as there was both cheese and vodka) and saw some fantastic costumes. So no craziness for Scott and I. Just a viewing of Halloween and candy eating. There also will be beer. Last night the girls and I celebrated - well, mourned - the departure of our good friend, Hoppe, to the suburbs. She's found love and affordable real estate - as most of our girlfriends and their husbands have these past few years - and none of us would begrudge her either of those things. As also is the case with all of our friends, we'll miss her to pieces. You know, I haven't minded the lines around my eyes that have come with age. Or that I have a sprinkling of gray hairs, or even that my butt is now riddled with cellulite. And it is. It's sad. No, what I mind about getting older is that I don't see as much of my girlfriends as I once did. I would totally welcome cottage-cheese thighs if it meant more of them during my week.
