... well, for me, Girls' Friday. I had to work on Saturday.

This was only a partial gathering of "The Girls." Jen and Jenny were sadly absent from the evening of wine and mini golf and cookies and more wine. We sat up until 2 a.m. talking, and I can't remember the last time I was up that late.

Suzie, Sara, Jamie and Katie (and the aforementioned Jen's) are the wives of some of The Boy's closest friends, this particular group stemming from high school. Some of the ladies went to college with The Boy's best friend and two ended up marrying within that particular circle of guys. Everyone else was basically grandfathered in.

This, not surprisingly, has made them all very close. When we first met last year at Jenny's wedding, I was particularly nervous as a result. Coming into a weekend with women who have been that close, for that long, would have anyone intimidated. By the end of the weekend, it was as if I'd gone to college with them, too. They were all so welcoming and kind, smart and funny, interesting and warm. All the qualities you want in friends.

They're lovely women, and I feel really blessed to have met them. I'm only sad that I'm missing the Mexican fiesta this evening.
