From the weekend
1) Yesterday Glinny and I met up with Jessamyn and Katie for some ice cream, walking, talking and playing in the park. Two funny things happened: - Katie, ever the fearless three-year-old girl that she is, demanded that her Mommy push her higher, "more higher!" on the swing set so that she got "higher than the sky!" With each push, GLIN FREAKED OUT. The higher Katie went, the more Glin ran around, underneath her, barking like crazy. We couldn't tell if she was worried about Katie or wanted Katie's yellow Crocs! - At one point, while Glinny roamed in the park, leash still attached, Katie picked up Glin's leash and automatically, without missing a single beat, Glin heeled behind her. Glin has never really been around little bitty kids and to see her calmly and gently follow little Katie was adorable. It's true what they say about Golden Retrievers. 2) Yesterday The Boy played a temporary stint as Ice Cream Man. All day he pushed around an ice cream cart - from a paleteria here in town - and all weekend bragging about "my boyfriend, the ice cream man" was all I could do. And while I know it was for a story he's working on, in conjunction with some others from the magazine, I still plan on working that one into the ground. For the record, he sold 89 ice cream bars. Katie purchased a Dora the Explorer pop from him and had a good time ringing the bells on the cart. It pays to know people. Overall, it was a fantastic, long weekend. The BBQ hosted by our friends and neighbors, Jenni and Lissette, was a success and it ended - for us, anyway - early with bellies filled with tasty vegetarian fare and waaaay too much sangria. People, did you know about the Target Wine Cubes? Not "box" but "cube?" Heh. Talk about marketing genius! For all of us who think we've been too good for wine in a box, the folks at Target call it a "cube" and we're all over it. They're awesome, for the record. I'll be back this weekend to pick up a couple. Anyway, we ate a lot, and slept a lot, and played with Glinny, and met up with friends of The Boy's from college for dinner at Wishbone, which led he and I to one of our favoritest bars in the city, and last night ended with lots of laundry and reruns of The Office and How I Met Your Mother because we can never get enough. I woke up this morning to find Glinny on my chest, dolly in mouth, ready for the morning and some cuddling. There are worse ways to lead a life.
