Wise words from Plain-Jane
"It was during their set that I found out what the new millennium's cigarette lighter tribute is: the open cell phone. Which makes me sad. Truly. I had determined I wasn't going to do any nostalgia crap, but for real, people. Waving a cell phone? I...it's...bah. I never felt so ridiculous in my life, waving around my Samsung and I will tell you this much: my Bic lighter never fell into energy-save and went dark. You held your lighter until your thumb was on fire and you liked it!" Posted by Erin at 04:08 PM | filed under: Blog move commentsIt LOOKS good, but Plain-Jane is right. It feels totally ridiculous. posted by: Hannah Beth at March 8, 2007 01:01 PM |

hmm. really. do people do that? interesting. i bet it kind of looks cool. i never thought about it. i don't smoke anymore, so i'd be hard pressed to do the lighter thing. plus, i was always caught ... was the lighter thing so ridiculously passe?
i'll never forget the time my parents TOTALLY busted my sister and i for loving the song/video for "more than words" by calling us up from the basement all urgent like only to find as we got to the bottom of the stairs that (my dad, most likely) they had the video on the tv cranked up and they were standing there holding lighters like the non-playing members of extreme did in the video.
zing!
and as far as cell phones go, i find myself sometimes wanting to check email or text or something during an opener or something (it's not talking, which i hate), but i feel all sheepish cause my light is glowing in the dark and i feel like i'm standing out like a sore thumb: I'M NOT PAYING ATTENTION!
