What I need more of on a Monday

My friend Rob just sent me an email and in it included the phrase "Ha cha cha."

I have decided that my Monday's should, from here on out, include that phrase. I dare you not to have it in your head for the rest of the day.

In other news, this weather we're having here in Chicago, combined with a sprinkling of PMS, is turning me into an angry, crazy person. I'm alternately bored outta my skull and pissed off at the world. I've run out of things in my apartment to clean and organize. All of my bills are paid and up-to-date. I'm taking burlesque dancing classes. I'm running. And yet?

Oh my God, I think I'm going to lose it if I have to look out my window one more morning to see another ton of snow. And the worst part? Tomorrow that day will be here and there will be more snow than there was this morning. I'm antsy and dying for some sunshine and balmy skies. I want us to be able to go and sit outside in a beer garden!

Yesterday I bought a new liner for my shower and the new plastic reminded me of the beach. The BEACH. And I almost fell down into the tub and curled into the fetal position and cried. Not really, but you know.

Blah. Winter. Anyone want to take me to Hawaii?

EDITED TO ADD, February 13: OhmiGod Chicagoans. Have you looked outside your windows?! Can you see? Because I can't. It's just all snow and horrible. I am seriously entertaining the idea of hitting the tanning bed at my gym after I'm done working out tonight just to try and remember what it feels like to, um, feel again. And I would actually think about going home right after work but I know the expressways are going to be a nightmare tonight.

AMEN. I fear I'm headed for some sort of psychotic break if it doesn't stop with the damn cold soon.

I used to think seasonal affectiveness disorder was BS until I moved back to Illinois. The lack of sunlight makes you want to run things over with someone else's car. Grrrr.

I was writing a proposal for a conference in Hawaii in July...until I was told that "fiscal year restraints" would force me to pay for the whole thing up front and not be reimbursed until September. Maybe. BITTER? While they're calling for ice and snow here in Maryland for the next three days? BITTER?????????? Yes! ; ) Totally ready for spring!!!!!

You've perfectly captured why I could never live in Chicago. I'd probably end up trying to kill myself by jumping out the window (only to land in dirty snowbank with a broken foot). Winters can be pretty bleak and overcast here in Atlanta, but yesterday was a fluke day, wonderfully warm and sunny. I went for a long walk with my iPod, stored up lots of vitamin D.

I was not too pleased to look out the window and see feets and feets of snow, especially since I had to spend the morning at my broken-down car waiting for AAA to show up. I had to wrap up in the dog's blanket to keep from freezing to death.

So yeah, had it, over it, it had better frigging warm up soon or there will be DRAMA.

This weather...it stirs the Nordic soul that resides deep within me. Yeah, I hate the lack of sun--but I don't hate the snow, cold, and wind. You have to be strong and resilient to survive. It brings out the tough, independant "survivor" character in us; it's part of the ehtos of being a Midwesterner. It's hardcore.
It's bad here in Central IL. On days like this I like to imagine myself as one of my ancestors, on the island called Gotland, it's the Dark Ages and the icy winds are howling at my back. Before me is the Baltic, heaving and chopping like one wild, massive, sea creature. I'm by my trusty ship contemplating a raid in Russia, Turkey, or Sicily. The journey will be treacherous but worth it. Then, by spring I'll be back in Scandinavia with a trove of jewels, gold, and slaves. I make my sacrafice to Odin, then I gather up the crew, jump in the ship and head South to riches and glory.
I work in the physical plant for a local school system. We still have to come work in order to hopefully get the school ready for tomorrow. I called in sick...because I stubbed my toe real bad Saturday...so much for my fantasy. Well, I guess I'll go back to bed, so I can sleep the rest of the day away.

OK, I have to comment on the addendum to this post. That is just a ridiculous amount of snow. Furthermore, the dog is seriously opposed to putting his delicate little paws in the cold stuff, so he hasn't pooped in 24 hours, and that's making me a bit nervous.

I know snow is to be expected but this blooooows.
