What I Would Do If I Had More Time

Explain, line by line, why that "Irreplaceable" song by Beyonce is the worst song to come down the pike since I don't know when.

Every time I hear it come on the radio I want to pull my car over, get out, and slam my head into the door repeatedly.

In other news, I had the occassion to be at the WTTW studios on Thursday night, and as I sat in a conference room off of the studios, watching "Chicago Tonight," a gentleman sitting in the room with me exclaimed, "I am so stoked to see that movie," in reference to "The Pursuit of Happyness."

Is anyone actually that excited to see a Will Smith movie, let alone spontaneously blurt out to a stranger using the word "stoked" to describe said excitement? I don't think so.

I had a great weekend. Saw The Reptoids, saw the kids with Schadenfreude perform at Gallery Cabert, worked on Saturday and totally missed Vonnie's cookie and ornament exchange, but did get done in time to see Miss Sarah Dahnke perform with the Chicago Tap Theatre. Kate came over, too, and was as enchanted with the Nintendo addition to the house as I am. Yesterday she and I fetched Chipotle, came home, and passed out. I love Sunday's.

Last night we hit Schuba's for the Machine Records holiday party and fell in love with some seriously awesome music: The Good Luck Joes and Martha Berner.

I'd like to point out that I met Martha back in February and ohmigod, she totally remembered me last night. How do I know she wasn't just being nice? She remembered where we were standing when we talked, which was by the photo booth at Schuba's. Now I am in love forever.

You all need to check her out. Last night she was battling some serious laryngitis and still managed to put on an amazing show. I know most of you who read me would dig Martha. Really. So much fun.

Tonight we're heading downtown for more Christmas-related frivolity. Rumor has it that there will be S'mores. Lastly, I purchased a collar for Glin that lights up with tiny red and green lights. She is a walking Christmas decoration. Kate called it "tacky" and "trashy" but whatever. You should have seen her rockin' that collar this morning on our run.

Also, it's much, much quiter than the jingle bells from last year.

Pictures to follow soon.

Oh my GOD. We should do a podcast of this, because I could do an in-depth analysis of how the song is so awful, it signals the death of both hip-hop and the English language. And not ONLY is it the worst song ever written and an offense to anyone with working ears, it is like, number one on the charts! And I am all about terrible songs, generally, but not terrible songs that everyone is pretending are great songs. No. I can't take that.

What? Y'all are crazy. I know I have no musical taste (hello, NKOTB!) but that song is awesome. I can't believe Allison, you of all people, would dog on B like that!

Jay-Z is MAD.
