... for a girl your size.
The first time I met Amy was freshman year of college when she was dating a guy I knew on the first floor of my building. We never really spoke. She was very quiet and I was very loud. Sophomore year, she lived two doors down from me. I'm not sure we ever uttered a word to each other, now that I think about it. Maybe a "hello" or two as we passed each other in the bathroom. But in junior year she became roommates in an off-campus house with six other girls whom I was friends with, including my best friend, Ali, and I distinctly remember wondering during the summer before they all moved in, when Ali and I were there for reasons I'm not sure of now, whether Amy and I would get along. We seemed so opposite. So incredibly different. Saying that practically guaranteed that she'd become one of the most important people in my life. Amy was, and in some ways remains, one of the quietest people I have ever known but like so many people who don't go out of their way to attract attention to themselves, when Amy has something to say it is either A) The most intelligent thing you'll ever hear or B) The funniest thing you'll ever hear. My girl has the dryest, most caustic, sharpest sense of humor of anyone. Plus, she is kind-hearted and gentle, quick to comfort those who need it most and blessed with a natural grace that gives her character, making most people gravitate towards her. She is a stunningly beautiful woman, and it's easy to assume that people are drawn to her because she's so physically attractive. I like to think it's because she's something of an old soul and people pick up on that pretty quickly. I am so happy for her and the love and friendship she has found in her fiance, Chris. He's a funny, charming, warm and caring person and I think we all knew years ago, in the early days of their courtship, when the two of them would frantically text message other all night long, cracking each other up with these stilted little messages, that Chris was the one. Congratulations, you two. I love you so much!
